Welcome
Welcome to www.LesbianImmigration.ca
Welcome to Canada. We have some of the world's most lesbian friendly laws and protections. Our Supreme Court has interpreted the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in our Constitution to protect lesbians and gays from discrimination. Canadian immigration law and regulations were written entirely gender neutral.
A Canadian or Canadian Permanent Resident can sponsor their same sex spouse (legally married somewhere in the world, the list of places grows!), common-law partner (have lived with your partner for at least a year, does not matter where. Short and temporary breaks do not break the continuity of the year. there is also deemed common-law) or Conjugal Partner (in a relationship for at least a year but not married and for reasons beyond your control have not been able to become common-law) in a Family Class sponsorship application on the basis of your lesbian relationship.
A Canadian or Canadian Permanent Resident and their lesbian spouse or common-law partner may co-sign a sponsorship of their parents or grand parents. These sponsorship applications include the dependents of the person being sponsored. Bring your family together to live free and proud in Canada.
In an Economic Class (Skilled Worker, Canadian Experience, Self-Employed, Investor or Entrepreneur) or Provincial Nominee application your sexuality is not relevant to the success of your application. If you are legally married or in a common-law relationship you MUST include her on your application. These applications include the dependents of the foreign spouse or common-law partner.
If you are in, or plan to come to Canada as a student or foreign worker you may be able to get a work permit for your spouse or common-law partner so you can come here together.
About Us (Peter Bernier)
I have been helping lesbian couples with immigration to Canada since 1994 when we got my partner his permanent residence. He has now become a Canadian citizen and we recently celebrated our 19th anniversary. I am one of Canada's most experienced experts on Canadian immigration for gays. I am a member of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) as required to represent you, a Director of ICCRC, a member of the Canadian Association of Immigration Professionals (CAPIC), and a High Honours Graduate of the Immigration Practitioner's Certificate Program. I have volunteered with LEGIT in Toronto since 1994 when I founded LEGIT-Toronto.
